I total agree that fake nails do not belong on nurse’s hand. When you use artificial nails, you cannot see what is under the nails. Soils, dusts, food and so on may hide in side where can become perfect breeding ground for bacteria. For the infection control purpose, hand hygiene need to be strict performed among nurses. According the search of CDC website, "health care workers who wear artificial nails are more likely to harbor gram-negative pathogens on their fingertips than are those who have natural nails, both before and after handwashing" (Boyce, & Pittet, 2002).
