The first reason is that parents don't step back. In the article Mistakes Parents Make That Push Adult Children Away, the author explains that parents need to step back but still connect with their children as grown ups. Parents don't want their child to fail at things, but even though parents love their kids that they need to let them have trial and error and be able to grow from mistakes and learn from the good and bad things. Then they will be able to cope on their own and not just depend on their parents to fix everything. The author goes into detail about if they fail that its ok and it happens and that parents need to let it happen and to step back to let their child deal with the issue. Elders think that 18 year olds are still kids and they don't understand that they want to be adults and treated as adults. In the article, “Becoming Adult: How Teenagers Prepare for the World of Work,” the author explains that even though they are considered adults, they are youth who don't know what their future occupation will be. Even though some may not know their occupation, they still want to be treated the same as their elders treat each other. Some peers think that 18 year olds aren't yet mature enough. But peers need to let the 18 year olds prove themselves because most are mature and are ready to be treated equally. Peers need to let the 18 year olds prove themselves to be adults and be
