Why Do Mental Illness Affect Society?

Mental illness is a severe problem in America; lots of people on the planet are affected by this sickness. There are many ways it is caused. Many ways to avoid it. also, there are many ways to treat it. However you may end up with it, it is not a good thing to have it. Mental illness is an illness that usually isn't visible, but can affect the person's thoughts and actions. Most types aren't severe, but some, such as, schizophrenia, turrets, and autism can affect the person's life in a major way. Some of the most common least noticeable kinds are ADD, and, ADHD. They still are not an asset. Some kinds of illnesses are treatable with medication, but some require therapy. If you see people being a little strange, dont judge them, instead you might want to be nice to them and be more thoughtful while you speak to them. Who is affected by it? Some of the people that are affected by this are teens. Some of the reasons that teens are mentally ill is because of substance abuse, abuse, and being born with it. One reason you can end up with it is by one of your parents or grandparents passing it down to you “hereditary”. It shockingly doesn't affect the community that bad, most of the illnesses aren't that severe so they can still work alongside their other coworkers. Some of them are too severe and they require a caretaker. Do some people make too big of a deal out of it? Yes lots of people act like it is a disease and it’s contagious (it's not). Some people also don't make a big enough deal out of it. There are organisations that help raise awareness, which is good, but sometimes, they blow it up way to big and try to scare people into funding and supporting their cause.
