Paid Paternity Leave
Do you ever get tired of the stereotypical cliché where women are the only ones who raise the child and do all of the cooking and cleaning? Do you plan on having children while working a job at the same time? What opportunities did your parents get when having children? Our country does not give parents the opportunities that other parents receive in other countries. Not only should mothers receive paid maternity leave but fathers should as well. Fathers need to break the cliché and be a part of their child’s early stages of life. In order for men to have this opportunity, men need to be offered paid paternity leave. The stereotypical father has molded into the role of being a provider, a protector, and a leader. Mothers on the other hand have been told to follow the role of being a caretaker and a homemaker. In our modern society this is not always true. Both men and women have much higher standards of living than they have had in the past. Women are no longer housewives; they are just as capable for making a living for themselves as a man is. Knowing this, we as Americans have the right to take a paid leave when we have children.
