Why Do Men Cheat

Why do men Cheat? That’s a question that majority of our society seems ask, but what if we explore that question a little deeper. Is it all men that cheat, or does certain variables play a part in it, Race? Age? Cultural Background? On the other hand, have we ever really explored the fact that women cheat too? Do they cheat as well as men do or even better? Throughout society men are seen as the cheater and women are most likely seen as the victim of infidelity. Could the roles be reversed or is it simply a true fact that “all men are dogs”. It could just simply be that they are just not happy. I will explain my findings on these questions throughout the paper.

Relationship experts suggest that black men are less likely to be faithful because they have so many other viable alternatives available to them (Utley, 2011) Reports showed that 25% of men and 15% of women admitted having had extramarital sexual involvements. Even though being unhappy in a relationship can lead to infidelity, it can occur in both happy and unhappy marriages. A study showed that only 30% of men who had been involved in infidelity reported marital distress before their affair, while 60% of women were unhappy before their affair (Pittman & Wagers, 2005). It seems as if men commit the acts of infidelity not for the reason of unhappiness but, to exercise his feelings of lust or just the pure experience of being with another woman. While most women act upon the feeling that their marriage does that meet her satisfaction and she tries to find that missing piece through another
