Why Do Illegal Immigrants Work

What’s the first thought that comes to your mind when you hear the word “immigrants”? Illegal? Not welcomed? Aliens? I highly doubt that the word or phrase that went through your mind had a positive connotation. Immigrants, especially illegal immigrants, has been an issue in America for a long time, and there has been many different opinions about them. However, when it comes to immigrants working—legal or not--has always been a controversial topic. For those who disagrees with the idea of letting immigrants work in the U.S, or even letting them in the U.S. often claim that the immigrants “steal real Americans jobs.” The question is, are they really stealing Americans jobs? After the law was passed, many Hispanic farm laborers who supposedly “stole real Americans jobs” fled the state. Although this could’ve been a chance for the real Americans to get jobs, instead of Americans being employed, like the article stated, the only result from the Hispanic workers leaving the state was millions of rotting berries and tomatoes, still waiting to be harvested. This led to a $40 million loss to Alabama’s economy.
At this point you may ask, “Well, why didn’t the Americans take the jobs?” according to the text, real Americans aren’t exactly trying to get these open jobs.
