After the law was passed, many Hispanic farm laborers who supposedly “stole real Americans jobs” fled the state. Although this could’ve been a chance for the real Americans to get jobs, instead of Americans being employed, like the article stated, the only result from the Hispanic workers leaving the state was millions of rotting berries and tomatoes, still waiting to be harvested. This led to a $40 million loss to Alabama’s economy.
At this point you may ask, “Well, why didn’t the Americans take the jobs?” according to the text, real Americans aren’t exactly trying to get these open jobs. Few Americans they hire tends to be very slow and quits after few hours complaining how hard it is. Grower Connie Horner even said The Associated Press, “You can’t find legal workers. Basically they last a day or two,
