A little background on me is that I have been moved from house to house for my entire life been treated like I am nothing but a piece of trash that is no good to anyone or for anything, and that I am nothing but a mistake. That is until I got into high school and I met my JROTC instructor. He had pulled me out of class on the first day of class and told me that I have potential that I can be something, that I have a purpose, and that I am worth something, that I will be an asset to this world one day. I still to this day do not know how he knew that I was hurting and pained but I am glad that he did realize it because it gave me someone that I could count on to be in corner when I needed it. I finally had someone I could look up to someone to encourage me to be …show more content…
He always told me to set goals for myself and my life and to never stop setting goals because once you quit setting goals for yourself you have no reason to keep going. Since that day forward I have never stopped setting goals for myself, never gave up on myself, or even let anyone get me down. I know now that everyone is going to hate in some way about something. That I just have to be happy with who I am and keep my sights set on my future. Not to let anyone hold me back or to keep me from going after what I want in my life. I have kept good grades because I want my future to be good not because I want to prove that I am somebody or that I do have a reason for being on this earth. Therefore, meeting my Junior ROTC instructor and working with him over the years on my self-esteem. Has gave me a chance to realize that I am going to do something good in this country and this world, I am going to be the person that my future children and family can look up to and say that I want to be like her. I am going to be the role model for my future family that I never

I have always been known as being that person who has always been intact and has never shown a single ounce of weakness, because people view me this way, they think I am unbreakable, and that nothing in the world can wound me. I have always been that person that people turn to when they are stuck in a bottomless pit and cannot find a way to get out, because of this, I have always had an interest in being there for those who need a shoulder to accompany them. Since I was very young, I always clung to the passion of being at the side of others who were struggling, and were in desperate need of help. I played with baby dolls until I was ten years old, I would bathe them, I would change them, I would feed them, I would take them out for walks, and I treated them as if the plastic baby actually contained a human heart.…

I’ve had many positive experiences in my life, but my experience joining the Air Force and completing Basic Training had the greatest impact. I did not take high school seriously, because I signed to join the Air Force in my junior year of high school. Growing Up in a Broken Home and What it Has Taught Me Growing up I had typical childhood experiences, but unlike some of you I grew up in a broken home. Many people would say I got the short end of the stick; however, I believe it has in some ways made me a better person.
