One way teaching is joyful is the ah-ha momment. A teacher of mine thought me about what an ah-ha moment is. my teacher said it is when a student finally gets a concept. I want to examine the ah-ha moment because I would feel like i accomplish and i would feel satisfied. Another way teaching is joyful is because i get to hear what these unique minds have to say about life. For example, if i ask these students write about saving the planet, most of the time i will get to read a great essay. Each person has his or her individual path to follow, no two paths are exactly the same; but, every now and then, paths interweave and people construct bonds with each other. In the case of Sonny and his brother, the narrator, in James Baldwin’s short story, “Sonny’s Blues”, their paths were parallel with one another until they grew up. Sonny left the slums of Harlem, aspiring to become a musician, while his brother settled in Harlem and became a teacher. Although the narrator and his brother ended up with completely different lives, the narrator being a family man with a teaching job and Sonny, an ex-convict playing jazz at a club, are ironically more similar than they are portrayed.…

Why I Teach: During my senior year, the high school I attended offered its first computer class. I eagerly enrolled and learned BASIC on an Apple IIe. My first program was a game similar to Boggle's word search. I meticulously drew up my project plan, spent hours in my room at night working through the logic of my program, carefully entered my code, and, remarkably, it worked! I shared it with my classmates, who then asked me to show them how to bring their own visions to life.…
