Initially I was a Kelley major, however after getting inspired by my trip to Kenya, I realized that it was best if I looked into a major from SPEA. I learnt about SPEA as I was doing research on what majors allowed me to benefit others and myself as well. The SPEA website organizes all the majors it has and describes each one in detail. As I slowly eliminated all the other majors, I came down to the human resources management major and management major. I wanted to fulfill both my financial prosperity desires as well as my ambition to help the poor. Hence, I chose the management major, which enabled me to do a little of both. I always enjoy exploring my options and alternating between jobs to do something different now and then. I chose management because of my strengths and ambitions. One of my strengths is to be able to govern and lead as an example. This included managing people and leading them towards a specific goal. A degree in business management will enable me to pursue a career as a financial analyst. Since financial analysts are responsible for understanding the business industry in-depth and then making economic recommendations based on what they know, it is a perfect fit to my strength because I will be managing the employees and telling them how to act to reach financial success. Also, this career would offer me with the financial prosperity that my parents wished for me. According to my interests in making a difference, I decided that working as a human resources manager would satisfy my ambitions. Human resources managers are responsible for recruitment and employee relations. I concluded that working with people in need and providing them resources to increase their values of life would be sufficient. Since I am originally from Bangladesh, it makes good sense to start by recruiting employees from there and making my way up. Many other people with similar ambitions merely donate money to the poor assuming that it would end their poverty. However, I believe
