After doing intensive research over what careers and colleges suit me, I have finally narrowed down which could be possible for my future. I have always liked art and have practiced my art skills for many years. I also enjoy interior design, which has been a more recent enjoyment after watching various shows on t.v. over interior design.
Having a career in art would open a lot of doors for me. Artists draw, paint, display and sell their artwork. According to BLS the median pay of a craft and/or fine artist is $44,000, and the pay is $21.35 an hour (“Craft and Fine Artists”). I would need a bachelor’s degree or higher to become an interior designer. Interior designers work in offices, homes, and use a lot of technology; I’m fairly skilled in using technology on a daily basis. Most work full-time and may adjust their workday to suit clients; they also have many deadlines, which can be frustrating. Some qualities for becoming an interior designer are being artistic and creative, having good problem-solving skills, and communication. Some pros would be having flexible hours, and working at home, who wouldn’t enjoy that? I dislike how there are many deadlines and using a lot of mathematics. The tuition to attend would be $28, 872, and to pay for housing it would be $7,980 (“Columbus College of Art and Design”). To arrive there it would take about two hours, which is fairly close to my family. The services at the Columbus College of Art and Design include a job placement service, interviewing skills, and career/decision making (“Columbus College of Art and Design”). This college would not be a good fit for me because it is a private school, and it costs more money to go
