Why Do Homework Should Be Banned Persuasive Essay

I write to you today as the principal of Frederick Irwin Anglican School (FIAS) aiming to persuade you about just how important not having homework is, and to suggest how FIAS could be more successful if not giving us homework.

Do you know just how much homework we, year 8 students at FIAS get? Well we get heaps!
Firstly, it’s very tiring and boring, and we are just going over what we learnt that day, and we are just writing it out again! That’s silly. Some teachers even yell at FIAS students for not paying attention in class. That is because kids stay up late doing homework and study all night hardly getting any sleep.
Do you know how late we stay up doing assignments too? Did you actually know that we do 7 hours of school a day and we have

When kids don’t know what to do for their homework they get stressed and just don’t want to learn what they have to learn. Kids then get upset and are not concentrating in class. This sometimes leads to depression (later down the track) and kids at this age should not have depression! Currently in Australia 1 in 5 children are effected by mental health problems. I believe that the pressure of homework has contributed to this statistic.
Another example is that, after school, kids just need to relax and cool down from having a long tiring day of school. At this age (12-16…) kids are in high school and they will start to get heaps of homework from every subject, that’s like 1 hour for every subject! Some night’s kids have to study for exams/tests/naplan and still having homework piling up on their backs.

Over the past 30 years’ childhood obesity has almost doubled and if children are having to spend so much time doing homework then I am sure the obesity rates will continue to grow. Children need to be out exercising, instead of sitting at a desk doing homework.

In conclusion, I hope you can consider the above facts and understand how important it is to remove homework from the children of Frederick Irwin Anglican School. I am sure you will notice happier, healthier and calmer children around the

After reading Etta Kralovec and John Buell’s essay, “End Homework Now,” I can say that I’m of two minds about their claim that homework has questionable benefits. On one hand, I agree that homework it isn’t as imperative as some parents believe. On the other hand, I’m not sure if homework is completely unnecessary. I agree that that homework isn’t as vital as it’s thought to be, a point that needs emphasizing since so many people still believe that “If our students don't do lots of homework, their test scores will never be competitive internationally” (Kralovec, Buell).…

If kids didn’t have to worry about getting certain assignments done for the next day, I do agree with Darter that, kids would have more time to be kids. In her article Darter refers to a study done at Duke University. The study showed that “all it does is negatively impact kids’ attitudes towards school, learning, and their parents(the homework enforcers).” This research shows, not proves, that homework does have an effect on studies ability to do well in…

Whether you go to school, or whether you’re done with school, everyone is somewhat affected by homework. But due to the fact that everyone is at least slightly affected by homework, that means that everyone is affected negatively. For instance parents, yes of course homework lets them see what their kid is doing at school, which don’t get me wrong is good. But if I'm being honest, homework disturbs family life. It prevents students from spending quality time with their family or friends.…

In recent years, parents have began to wonder whether or not homework was beneficial to their children or not. After spending their entire day in school, children are usually given extra assignments to complete at home when they could be spending that crucial time with family. There are said to be both positive and negative aspects of this topic. The article I chose to analyze was “Rethinking Homework” by Alfie Kohn. This article talks about the so called pros and cons of homework.…

A Relentless Burden Various levels of government, including at the state and local level, impose guidelines on the curriculum for our public schools. The purpose of the curriculum is to establish an equal footing among students for their continued studies for college and the workforce. Homework is incorporated in the agenda and committee teachers impose a minimum requirement every night. With differing amounts in certain areas and days, people question whether a significant amount of homework does more harm than good in our modern societies. The U.S News & World Report conducted a survey on over 1,000 students and confirmed that “teachers on average assign about 3.5 hours of homework each week.…

There are so many reasons people are pro homework. People say “it helps them become smarter or helps them on test,” But there is a lack of evidence where it actually supports their claims, that it helps students at all especially at such a young age. with Alfie Khon “The positive effects of homework are largely mythical.”(Khon). It also seems that homework is being forced onto younger students more often than the older ones. I remember getting tons of homework in Elementary school, and not having the time to play outside, the stress, and my parents struggling to help me on problems I didn’t know.…

Homework has several benefits and is important to a child’s success. Specifically, homework can be beneficial to a student’s academic achievements. The use of daily homework assignments can help students better obtain information which has previously been taught. A student who is introduced to an idea during class, then given an assignment, allows them to practice and grasp a better understanding of the concept. The aid provided from homework then opens up more time for further learning in the classroom.…
