Banning Muslim headscarves in public schools is inappropriate because it interferes with religious freedom and it is discriminatory. It is a symbol that represent the Muslim girls and young women, a barrier to protect their hair from the men sight who can marry them, and it is a modesty, and it should not be taken away from them.

Muslim headscarves are not only scarves, but they hold personal values to the Muslim women. Headscarves, or as they call it a Hijab, should not be compared with hats such as baseball cap, which is a part of a fashion statement and do not have religious purposes, whereas headscarves are a part of a Muslim women’s identity.

It would target the group of Muslim students. From the lens of the Constitution, everyone is assured the freedom of religion. To ban the wearing of headscarf, is taking away the right from a Muslim student to practice their faith. Also one of the Core Democratic Values is Pursuit of Happiness . Muslim students find wearing headscarves is one of the components that makes them happy and content, therefore headscarves should be allowed in schools. Students wearing headscarves should not only be allowed, but should be accepted as important. Muslim students should have the right to follow their beliefs at the public schools and there should be no rules against how the Muslim students
