It is crucial for engineers to follow a code of ethics in order to manage and maintain the their behaviour towards their profession, employer, employee, society and clients. Engineers follow a code of ethics because it provides them a precise definition of what they are required to do as an engineer in their profession. In addition, it gives them a clear outline of their responsibilities in terms of how they are expected to behave and interact in a professional manner within the society, and with their client and co-workers.
