Ascorbic acid or Vitamin C is a substance that occurs naturally that mainly helps collagen formation. Dogs and cats produce ascorbic acid in their liver. Ascorbic Acid is prescribed to treat Vitamin C deficiency caused by liver disease or any toxicity syndromes. It is also used to treat feline immunodeficiency virus infections to prevent struvite uroliths formation.
