It is important to make sure that these strategies are used frequently in the student’s classes to help build peer relationships. It is also important to make sure that these strategies are not only about academics. They should also be used as team building opportunities, one way I do this is by having the students do a think pair share about what they are going to do over the weekend, or I have them create a list of their favorite food through a rally write where they take turns writing their favorite…

All this time when I was chatting it up with my friends and having a great time being involved and loved by my friends and teachers, there were kids in the class that felt the way I had felt in my Indigenous class. Because I was so focused on making sure myself and my friends were happy, I forgot about making other people feel comfortable. So as a teacher, my goal is to take down the boundaries of isolation to some of those kids. Encouraging cliques and different personalities to merge will not only help students to get involved, but to create an environment where everyone is involved and feels wanted and safe. There should never be down time in our classrooms because our teachers should be applying a variety of their teaching skills. Therefore, I feel that each semester, students should have an interactive town hall with their teachers to suggest fun activities to better distribute the lesson plans and standards to ensure that the student body is receiving every drop of knowledge needed for them to succeed in life. Thomas Edison once said "Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up." When first reading this quote, I had to sit back and think about it because it left a message. Why would you give up on yourself when you’re so close to the finish…

Co-Ed sports teams consist of athletes of both genders. These types of teams are typically only available for the younger kids, but what if it was an option for the older players too? Having the option to play co-Ed sports could be a massive push in the right direction for both the children involved, and the reputation of the school promoting it. The school would likely be the only one in town offering the student athletes a fun and healthy way to learn to work with others, relieve themselves from stress, and learn to have mutual respect for others no matter your differences. Speaking on my experience at Sheppard Pratt as I stated before, working on an adolescent unit can be very trying on your emotions and patience. From this experience I believe I have become fully aware of my emotions and feelings. I feel is important for a leader to know their limits and know when they need to let someone else handle the situation at hand.…
