Bystanders should intervene in crimes for the greater good and morality. By intervening bystanders can prevent petty crimes like a purse snatching or bigger crimes like sexual assault. While there is a risk of having the bystander get involved in something bigger than themselves it's their good nature that gets them there in the first place.
