Black bears live in many different places. The American Black bears prefer to live in close accessible terrain, with a thick understory vegetation, and a large quantity of edible material. In North America, black bears tend to be in regular lowland regions. The black bears in the United States today are typically found in mountain ranges that are seriously vegetated. The Ursus Americanus lives in North America, and Canada.
