Why Do Balls Bounce

Introduction What is very interesting about this research is that when the balls are cold the gas molecules inside tend to get tired and not have so much energy to help the balls bounce. It’s their job to act as a spring to help the balls bounce, but in order for the ball to bounce it has to be the right temperature, meaning the degree of hotness or coldness of a body or environment. In this case it has to be warm outside because that’s when the gas molecules inside are excited and they have a lot of energy. A gas molecule is the simplest structural unit of an element or compound. It’s like giving a child sugar and they are very hyper and excited and jumping off the walls, but instead this is not sugar its sunlight and it’s for the gas molecules. In the experiment the measuring tape wasn’t working out because there was no one holding it so when the balls dropped I probably got the wrong height of the balls bounce. Bounce meaning the quality of a substance that is able to rebound.

Professional Athletes take temperature into consideration when they play games. They know that the ball is going to act different when they play games in colder or warmer weather. As an example football teams sometimes have to play in very cold weather so they compensate meaning a period of playing time added after the expiration of the set time limit for the fact that the ball is going to act different.
