When it comes to the topic of whether using steroids in sports is cheating, most of us will readily agree that it is a form of cheating. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of do people really need the steroids to be better or perform better. Whereas some are convinced that athletes need them to maintain their body shape, others maintain that it’s cheating because there’s people who train hard by working out and then you have those who take the steroids and it’s not fair. Though I concede that athletes do take the steroids to keep the strength that they think they need to win, I still insist that it’s a way of cheating because others work very hard and don’t need to take the steroids and it’s not fair for them to go against someone who’s load up on drugs and is super tough. …show more content…
Those who use play better and they want to be better but the way that they do it is cheating. “Society cares because steroid use is form of cheating. Since steroids work so well, they create an unfair advantage for those who take them, and this breaks the social contract athletes have implicitly agreed to: We are going to have a fair contest” (Michael Dillingham, 2004). Its like the saying “Let the best team win” how is the best team going to win when the opposing team is all doped up.
Most athletes use enhancements to improve their game and it enables them to break certain records in sports. Athletes claim that these enhancements “help” them. The using of steroids should definitely be considered as cheating. They enhance a athletes to improve strength, stamina and give them more muscle. It gives the athletes the unfair edge over the rest of their competition. They’re cheating themselves it’s putting to shame the saying “practice makes perfect”, these athletes aren’t practicing anything they are bulking up with
