Why Do Athletes Use Electronic Data?

Personal data is important no matter who you are. The chance of hackers accessing your information and handing it out to whomever they please to is a scary and real thing. Watching what athletes participate in on their free time is absurd. The collages signing contracts with companies to do so, are no longer protecting their students. There is not, and never will be, a way for electronic data, as they are using, to be one hundred percent safe from falling into the wrong hands. Universities are trying more to control and know everything that their athletes do than help them. Every single athlete, collage or professional, should have the chance to do what they want when they have down time. If an athlete is playing for a team who lets other companies access their information, the athlete could be tracked all of the time. The companies in question claim they are using the information to see athletes running courses or to improve their own products. Why would you want to know where an athlete is going to get their groceries at? Companies, like Nike, will know that and so much more now that they signed a contract with the University of Michigan. Universities sharing the information of what their students do on their free time is a great risk towards the students. The athletes reputation are at stake, with the chance of being blackmailed if they had a bad practice.
