Assault weapons were made in America for a reason so they should be allowed in America and should be legal. America is full of American citizens who have the right to bear arms and an assault weapon is a part of “arms” due to the fact is has a trigger and it shoots a bullet. It is unconstitutional to ban something that our four-fathers have given us the right to own. The second amendment was made a very long time ago when assault weapons werent made but yet today we still have that right and every gun is a part of the word “arms” including assault weapons. Assault weapons being banned would only increase crime because people would buy them illegally. Also, people would use other various types of weapons to kill someone or protect themselves so it would be worthless to ban them. Assault weapons have multiple shots with one pull of a trigger but it is a very useful gun when people believe they are not. Them guns can save your life in a heartbeat and you would not even give recognition to the fact it was an assault weapon. People think because “assault” is in the name its a gun used for crime, when really its used for a lot of things, people need to stop focusing on the bad things people used them guns to do and focus on the good. I don 't agree with the argument of banning gun laws. I don 't agree with because when the government bans gun laws they banned it from the wrong people there for increasing the crime rate.. For example when they set new laws the only ones that follow it are the good the people the people that use guns for self defense. While the “bad people” don 't follow the law and continue to use the guns. Therefor if everyone had hand guns no one would really mess with others because they know if they talk smack to them they will get shot…

I don’t see the point of just banning assault weapons, why not all fire arms? Hence, most of the crimes committed over the past years were semi-automatic. They are considered non-assault weapons because it only can shoot one round per pull, but they can cause a massacre. On the other hand, assault weapons are considered full- automatic because it only takes one pull to fire all the rounds, which can kill hundreds of people in matters of seconds. In contrast, If we compare an M4 and AR-15 rifle, they look the same but they have different functionalities.…

If the ban were to be inacted, teens would have a harder time finding people with assault rifles to buy from. But, just because the government outlaws it, does not mean that people will follow the law. People can still buy and use them, it will just be illegal. A complete ban of the rifles is not a definite way of stopping the people from illegally acquiring and using them.…

Even though Merriam-Webster is vague in stating what exact type of gun an assault weapon is, declaring it is “any of various automatic or semiautomatic firearms.” its description is the most correct, as “assault weapon” consists of a vast majority of firearms used for hunting, competing, war, and self-defense. Any ban on “assault weapons” would in essence ban all armaments used to threaten or inflict bodily harm, including knives, bats, spears, and swords, as well as guns.…

Before the 1994 assault weapons ban there was no such thing as an assault shotgun or assault pistol. The law essentially did the same thing pistols as it did for rifles. Pre ban there were machine pistols, but they were already highly restricted. The ban just changed the name to assault pistols and broadened the definition to include semi-automatics with two or more of the following features that also accept detachable magazines: threaded barrel, barrel shroud, an unloaded weight of 50oz, a semi-automatic version of fully automatic pistol, or a magazine that isn’t inserted through the grip. These features just don’t make any sense.…

According to BBC News, “About 40% of americans own a gun or live in a household with one.” Guns play a big role in the american society. There have been many deaths due to guns but prohibiting them wouldn't have prevented these deaths. There are many reasons to why prohibiting these weapons will do more harm than good. I feel as if federal laws should not prohibit assault weapons because it will basically disengage the second amendment, it disregards americans rights to safety and it will cause more problems and violence rather than solving it.…

If guns are banned and the law-abiding citizens are obeying the law, then when the criminals attempt to commit a crime, it is going to be much easier for them to get away with it because the average citizen is not going to have any way to protect his or herself. According to NRA’s mantra, “[the] only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun” (Hughes). So, not only does banning guns make it easier for a criminal to commit a crime, but it also disseminates any chance of stopping the criminal from committing the…

America is caught up in an important war and the problem is that very few people realize this fact. The war in which I am referring is whether or not to ban assault weapons. Now I’m not proposing a complete ban on all guns as that would be a violation of the 2nd Amendment which we will examine later. However, as we will see in the examples highlighted below, assault weapons are not normal guns and consequently I believe that they must be banned from civilian use.…

In America, there is a growing perception that guns are: they are harmful, they kill, and they commit crimes, and so most guns should be banned. But, how can a gun kill or commit crimes; it is not a living thing, it is a tool. With the use of guns, America has grown to be a strong and independent country throughout history. The push to ban guns will only keep guns away from law abiding citizens since criminals, by nature, do not follow laws and respect the gun free zones. The banning of guns in America should end.…
