Then, all of sudden, you hear banging noises coming from outside your classroom. This is the true story of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University shooting in April 2007 as told by Colin Goddard. Goddard was shot four times by the gunman: three bullets to the hips and one bullet to the shoulder.…

The teachers and students have no way to fight back due to the law on carrying arms on school premises. How would you feel in that situation versus if your teacher was able to carry? The question should be ask because the percentage of school shootings has risen 3.6% over the years. John R. Lott Jr., author of More Guns, Less Crime, reported several occurrences where there were attempts of violent attacks in which citizens had to defend themselves with a handgun. Handguns are used as more of a deterrent in cases like these. The armed criminal is more afraid of being shot than of being arrested (31-32). Through the years, American gun owners believed in a compromise over gun control laws, “give me this now, and I’ll take the rest later, is how David Hardly explains it in his article “Why Gun Owners are Right to Fight against Gun Control.” The first group targeted was the small inexpensive revolver, then the larger assault rifles, or anything that looked like a machine gun.…
CPL’s on Campus December, 14th, 2012, marks a day when the controversy of gun control, and CPL licences were brought to light by a tragic event. As a man broke into the school, threatening all of their lives. Sadly 6 teacher lost their lives doing whatever they could to protect their students, including Victoria Leigh Soto a first grade teacher at the school it has been found that “When she became aware there was a gunman in the school, she hid her first-graders in closets and cabinets, then told the shooter they were in the gym.…
Though guns have been used incorrectly in past and recent events, these instances cannot stop us from “securing an individual right to have guns for personal protection” as the 2nd Amendment so clearly states that we are allowed (Winkler). The right given to us by the constitution clearly states the we have the right to owning a firearm for our protection. There are assumptions where owning a gun may dissolve a conflict before the police or anyone who could even remotely help would be able to arrive. Showing those criminals how they are viewed by pointing a gun back at them causes them to second guess any of their choice to cause mayhem on U.S…
Will you be the next person hurt, or worse, dead? Maryland has a few laws about gun control. Three gun law bills maryland has passed that expands the state assault weapons ban. One of them is a law bill stating that you have to have a permit in order to have/ carry a gun. The other is a ban on “bump stocks” and other devices that can turn a semi-automatic gun into a rapid firing one.…
When they are trying to protect themselves, aren’t they a danger for others around them? What if the people in the bar are not being shot at, just the two men are shooting at one another, how does the people in the bar stop the men from shooting without killing the men or anyone for that matter? Instead of the people in the bar shooting at the shooters, they could have separated the men if there were no gun ownership. There is bound to be an accidental death. It would be safer for the public to not possess…
George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch patrol volunteer shot the 17 year-old black teenager as he was walking back to his father’s girlfriend home in a gated community in Sanford, Florida. Gun Control: Why Then Not Ban Everything that Poses a Potential Threat Gun Control is laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms. Allowing Gun Control in our country will only minimize the rights our founding fathers granted us with. Although many believe that Gun Control is a solution to prevent crimes, studies on countries that already adopted Gun Control show no decrease in crimes. Gun Control will only detriment citizens by not allowing them to defend themselves or their property.…
What would you do if someone walked in this class and pointed a gun in your face? Scary thought, huh? It’s a very controversial issue but it is our right to carry and conceal. Citizens should be able to conceal and carry so they are able to protect themselves, protect others such as family or random people, and it’s our…
This proves how increased gun control will not be the answer to end violent shootings. If someone was to break into your home, chances are that calling 911 will not save you. Self-defense techniques do not provide adequate protection against an armed attacker, so the only…
Point blank, and the gun is fired. Aimed at the other person, whose hands shake with rage, or is it fear? Ambulances and hospital doctors go sporadic, only mere moments to save a person’s life. A school shooter takes the life of multiple students and then attempts his own. All of this could have been solved if someone was there to prevent the shooter.…
