Based on document one, I think that Americans declare independence because they wanted political freedom; self-government and representation. There is a saying from the article “Stamp Act Congress Declaration of Rights,” “that it is essential to the freedom of people, and the rights of Englishmen, that no taxes should be imposed on them, but with their own consent, given personally, or by their representatives.” This shows self-government because they desire to create their own laws and to break free from England to show that they don’t need them anymore. Another form of political freedom would be the Boston Tea Party because the Colonists wanted to make their own laws about what they would be taxed on. Christopher Klein wrote in the article,
