It is common for females in Africa to drop out of school at around the age of twelve to be married. Education does not appear to be a top priority in a third world country. Young females in Africa should be provided and enforced education because it plays a vital role in helping them become successful in life. It is important to be aware of all the social and economic obstacles that keep females from attending school, and learning all the benefits that education provides.
Young females who are educated will have a greater chance at living a healthier life as well as their children. One factor that lowers life span is diseases. Knowledge of how to detect, diagnose, and prevent the spread of diseases is important in a third world country without sufficient medical care. “Educated mothers are better informed about specific preventable diseases such as diarrhoea, pneumonia, and malaria, which are leading killers of children” (“Discrimination”, n.d.). That knowledge can range from important common and uncommon knowledge, to everyday experiences to help improve quality of life. One of the benefits of passing down knowledge to children is that if their child is passionate about wanting to learn, he or she will be more involved in the community, most likely in a positive way. They may want to fix a problem or improve on something which is a gain. Not only can their knowledge be an asset to the community, but they will also learn ways to take care of themselves. They can learn how to keep themselves out of trouble and how to get out of drastic situations to make money such as child trafficking.
