Markus Zusak
Markus Zusak is 39 years old and was born is Sydney, Australia. He is the author of many books like Fighting Ruben Wolfe, Getting the Girl, and I am the messenger. One of the main reasons he wrote the book thief was because his parents use to tell him stories about their childhoods when they were in Germany. In 2001, He finished writing his fourth book, which brought the idea of writing a book about a book-stealing girl. He won the “Michael L.Printz Honor Book Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature”. He was also nominated for the Los angles Times Book Prize. So far he has wrote 6 books and is continuing to write more!

Her brother was buried 2 days later. After, Liesel and her mother were back on their way to Munich. She was taken to a street named Himmel, which mean’t heaven. Her foster parents the Hubermanns were expecting two kids but of course the boy didn’t make it. Her fathers name was Hans Hubermann and her mothers name was Rosa Hubermann. During the burying of her brother she stole a book named the Grave Diggers Handbook. At first Liesel didn’t want to go the home but she started to like her father. Her father was an accordionist. Soon she started going to school but she had problems because she didn’t know how to read. At school she meets Rudy Steiner who soon becomes a good friend of hers. Her father then starts teaching her how to read books. She then started writing letters to her mother but then finds out that her mother had disappeared. Every year on Hitler’s birthday there was a book burning that happened, she also stole the Shoulder Shrug at the
