This shows how Prometheus wanted to have acceptance from the World Council of Scholars since he never felt like he belonged in the society he is living in. Instead of getting praised for his wonderful invention, Prometheus faced rejection, insults, and became more of an outsider than ever before “Yes, we have much to say to a wretch who have broken all the laws and who boast of their infamy! In this myth the gods are no longer against man but against each other and are power hungry. Powell points out that the gods act as “tricksters”, “Ogres”, “sexual victims”, and are “dangerous enemies”. The gods are still vengeful and ready to strike down anyone that threatens them, especially when it comes to their power. Zeus is especially fearful of Prometheus because he too is very wise. He is truly a great threat to Zeus and his top spot as god of the gods.…

In A Raisin in the sun, Lorraine Hansberry uses an allusion to compare Walter Lee to the mythical Prometheus (856). George called Walter Lee “Prometheus” because, “Prometheus" fits Walter's passionate temperament. Prometheus was a Greek God from ancient Greek Myths who did not fight the Olympians. Prometheus was one of the two men who were not locked under the earth and the two men were given jobs. Prometheus started to think of using his job as revenge against the Olympians, because although he was not imprisoned under the earth with the rest of his kind he was still imprisoned in some sort of way.…

In Hesiod’s Theogony Zeus is not a just God to his people in the way that he punishes everyone for the acts that only one man committed, rather than just punishing a single individual. For example, Zeus is an extremely vengeful God and this is displayed at the Trick at Mecone as well as in the creation of Pandora. At the Trick at Mecone when Prometheus deceives Zeus by placing a pile of ox beef disguised in intestines and a pile of bones disguised in shiny fat for Zeus to choose from so the Gods and the mortals can negotiate the sacrifice that will be given (Hesiod, Theogony, 540-543), Zeus becomes angry at Prometheus for his trickery and not only punishes Prometheus for deceiving him but “wouldn’t give the power of weariless fire to the…

For instance, Prometheus gave and did many things for humanity. First, he took fire from Mount Olympus and gave the ability to man, yet he still committed a transgression of stealing to help them just like what Equality did to when he stole manuscripts from the Home of the Clerks (36). Second of all, Prometheus’ actions also affected his outcomes and plans. In the beginning, Prometheus tricked Zeus into giving him the fire without any problems, but at the end Zeus took away fire from humans eternally. In similar fashion, like Equality, Prometheus was different than any god and that showed through when he sided the Olympians in the Trojan War, to help humankind.…

Prometheus’s punishment stems from his ignorance to direct orders. In the Gory scene, Baldwin writes, “And so the great friend of men […] was chained to the mountain peak; and there he hung, with the storm-winds whistling always around him, and the pitiless hail beating in his face, and fierce eagles shrieking in his ears and tearing his body with their cruel claws. Yet he bore all his sufferings without a groan, and never would he beg for mercy or say that he was sorry for what he had done”(James Baldwin, Chapter III). Unlike Frankenstein, Prometheus’s punishment is a direct result of his disobeying to Jupiter and he is physically tortured by Zeus. He is hit with hail, shredded by eagles, and deafened by the whistling wind.…
