It was just a normal day, right? Think again. Kidnapped. Hit. Decapitated. These things happened to a 6-year-old boy with the name of Adam Walsh. Adam was just a sweet little kid that was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. After Adam Walsh's abduction, John Walsh, Adam's dad, created a successful TV show called America's Most Wanted to help find criminals of all crimes; with people being able to know who committed the crime, they will be able to get over and move past it.
The Abduction

They had a feeling that it was Toole that had kidnapped Adam, but they had to interrogate him first. The investigator, Hoffman, did a brief introduction, which was mandatory, to Toole before giving Toole is a paper that had his rights. Toole already knew his rights, so he quickly gave the paper back. Toole didn't refuse to answer the question of what he did in Florida, in fact, he was being very garrulous. Toole started with how he went to Fort Lauderdale in a car with a friend, Henry Lee Lucas. He then went on how they were on a trip going to several other states and that at that time he was still sad from his mother's death in the spring. Within the summer, they started heading to Florida. Toole said that they had snatched a kid outside of the mall, that could've been Adam. Hoffman wasn't so sure about if he did or didn't though. Toole was delirious of some things that happened that day, but he was sure about seeing a boy and snatching him outside of the store. After Terry confronted Toole of his story being fake, Toole wanted to speak to Hoffman and Hickman another time, so he can give them the real story. In fact, Henry was in jail at the time, so it was only Toole that could have committed the crime (Standiford, 2011). After a while, They finally concluded that Ottis Toole had to of been the one to kidnap Adam, making Toole a nemesis of the Walsh’s (Leinwand. 2008). After going to jail, Toole died (Szegedy–Maszak, …show more content…
Without having what happened to him, they wouldn't have a lot of things that they have now to find missing children and to find other criminals. The police on the search for Adam apologized to John and everybody else in the family because of all the time they had to wait to find out information and what they failed at doing. John Walsh was very frustrated with trying to find Adam. Because of what happened to Adam, they now have several systems for helping children and family that go through the same situation or close. From the case, the police now have fewer things that can go wrong when they are looking for kids that got kidnapped. They also have come up with several new devices and alerts that go out to help spread the wrong of any missing children. Because of what happened to Adam, they have better technology and better ways to find missing children. The percentage of missing children went up by about 34%. They even progressed enough to get the Missing Children Act in order to go in 1982. Then they had another go in order in 1984 (Leinwand, 2008).
Conclusion
With the TV show, America’s Most Wanted, they have been able to help several people and have the story of Adam go on, not letting people forget the story. Adam’s legacy will live on forever because of how much they evolved off this abduction and what they learned what to do when this type of thing
