The Great War was devastating as it destroyed many countries emotionally and physically. The war took place between 1914 to 1918. There were 3 teams of this war as there were a neutral which consists of Italy and Spain. The Allied Powers were Great Britain, France, Russia, Serbia and Belgium. The Central Powers were Austria-Hungary, Germany, Turkey, and Bulgaria. United States didn’t enter the war until the third year.
The United States stayed neutral for most of the war because they didn’t want to ruin any relationships with other countries. There was no reason for the United States to enter the war until someone started conflicts with us. President Wilson thought war zones in the ocean were illegal meaning countries can’t claim a section in the sea. …show more content…
A German submarine sank a Lusitania ship in the area that Germany didn’t want any other in their own so called territory. The United States chief officer, President Wilson wanted a peace plan between all nations. He didn’t want any wars or conflicts to with anyone. President Wilson didn’t like that the sunken Lusitania ship killed about 1200 people. Of those 1200 people killed, 128 were Americans. Germany sent a note to Mexico stating if the US and Germany went to war, can Mexico help Germany and they can claim what they loss against the United States. They would have gained back California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas. They called this note the “Zimmerman note”.
The World War ended when Germany realizing that they had no chance at winning the war against the US. The war ended on November 11, 1918 as they say it “It ended on the eleventh month, on the eleventh day, on the eleventh hour“.
