The Great War happened for a reason ,but why.The reasons for World War One were nationalism militarism ,alliances, imperialism.These four tensions in Europe erupted into war. For 3 years they fought while the U.S. remain neutral. Eventually the U.S. got sucked into the conflict because of German actions .Once in the war, the U.S. prepared and fought bravely .
By 1917, it was clear that the U.S. could not stay neutral much longer.Too many events were pushing America into war .
The Zimmerman telegram caused the U.S. to enter war.Germany sent a telegram encouraging Mexico to engage in the war with U.S. if United States attempted to declare war on Germany .The United States was shocked by this note because it was threatening.

Young men registered and were assigned a number .Then the government had a lottery in July to decide who were the first draftees.
The people that fought in the war were courageous just to know that they could die ,some of them did die in the War for our lives to protect us
