There are many things that led to the Civil War between the North and South. They disagreed over many different issues. Some of those issues being slavery, whether a state is free or a slave state, and the rights of African Americans. Events such as the election of 1860, and Dred Scott vs. Sanford led to the Civil War

The main reason the Civil War happened was because the North and South couldn't agree on slavery. The South believed that they had the right to own enslaved African Americans, while Northerners believed that it was immoral that a human be enslaved by another human.
