Firstly, Spain became an important ally for the Patriots. After the Battles of Saratoga, France convinced Spain to help the Americans win their freedom. Spain made the alliance with the Patriots in 1779. Though Spain did not fight side by side with the Americans, General Bernardo de Gálvez, Spanish governor of Louisiana, was very helpful to the Patriots. Spain was extremely helpful to the Americans. They sent money and supplies, and kept the British out of certain areas. France was the most important ally of the Patriots. They also sent supplies and sent many soldiers that were essential to the Revolution. Germany also contributed to the American’s win. They sent experienced soldiers that trained the Americans and fought for the Americans. Without the support of their allies the Patriots would have lost the Revolutionary War, and Americans would not be free
