After the 9/11 attack a lot changed in the world security system. Since that day we have seen a dramatic increase of supervision at airports. It is no longer like the good old days when you could have friends and family greeting you a happy vacation at the gates, or welcome you back after a time out of the country. This is a thing you often can see in movies. Especially in love movies when a couple brake up, one is going to catch an airplane, the other all by a sudden changes his mind and has to hurry to the airport, he always makes it and can catch up his lover and kiss her at the gate. Today that is on movie but once upon a time it was reality, even if the storyline was different.
When I was 13 years old me, my family and some other relatives went to Crete to celebrate my mother’s 40 years birthday. During the whole flight I sat and talked trash with my uncle, we talked about everything, girls, which I thought was very embarrassing to talk about with adults back then, we talked about sports and old memories. After this day everyone knew who Al Qaeda was. They showed the world that the US system is broken, not as gilded as the surface tells us. The attacks has left long term marks in the economy of America and most important. Al Qaeda managed to spread fear to people living on this planet, terror organizations can strike wherever and whenever, you never know. Al Qaeda certainly lost their leader ten years after the attack, but still, the attack was just as successful as a terror organization can be, even though they missed some of their targets. United States is nowadays the world’s second strongest economy, after China, maybe the attack has contributed to this.
