Why Did Politics Cause The Civil War

Politics was the main cause of the civil war because without the arguments Charles had with parliament or the extra money he charged people; there would not have been a serious enough issue to trigger a civil war. However there were also other reasons to start the civil wars, such as: money and religion.

Religion was not the most important cause of the civil war as in the past there have been worse problem with religion and they did not seem to drive a country to behead its king. However just because religion was not the most important cause of the civil war does not mean that it was not partially responsible. However the 5 men fled down the river and were later protected by the Council of London. This resulted in many members of parliament to take a particular dislike in Charles. Parliament decided to make a list of things Charles had to do, called The Grand Remonstrance. The list consisted of new demands from parliament, such as: that the power bishops had should be lessened and that Charles could only employ ministers that parliament could trust. Charles signed this, but would later on go against it.
To conclude the most important cause of the civil war was politics as the reasons to show politics were the trigger of the civil war are the only points that have enough power to start one. It was not religion as there were barely any points on religion that could have caused a war and if there was going to be a civil war to do with religion it would have already happened. Conflicting attitudes towards Royal authority and religion brought about a series of events which escalated into armed conflict.
