Why Did My Uncle Committed Suicide?

Improved Essays
I was 13 when my uncle committed suicide. I was extremely close to him, and he didn't get along with his own son. He treated my brother and I as his own. He was a brave man, and while we often didn't see him for long due to his work, we were extremely close to him. He would repair helicopters for the military, and would travel across the world to do so. Whenever he went to a different country, he would buy something for my brother and I. Stuff like Kinder eggs, little statues, and just neat little trinkets and such.
Anyways, when he was diagnosed with throat cancer (which both his father and grandfather died of), he was no longer able to do any of the exhilarating things he was so fond of. He told his wife and son that he planned to go scuba diving without a tank, as he was in Hawaii at the time. He wanted to die somewhere beautiful and exciting while he was still able to do so. After everybody in the family talked him out of it, he came home to begin chemo. A couple months later, the majority of which we didn't get to see him, he shot himself after his family left for the day.

I was extremely depressed, became suicidal, and had panic attacks every day. I couldn't go to school anymore. Over time I've been prescribed various medicines, have seen 7 different therapists/coursers. Nothing seemed to help. After about a year, I was enrolled in online schooling. For some reason, despite not attending any of my classes and failing everything for nearly 3 years, I was still never held back. I only just started attending the online school this last semester. I'm still in no condition to return to the regular brick and mortar school, and I only have 2 classes online for the time being. Things are just starting to look up though. Finally on some meds that seem to actually be doing something, slowly regaining my confidence and attending classes again, and more or less able to enjoy my day to day

My mother passed when I was five years old she not only left me behind but also left my older brother Brian who was seven at the time and my younger sister Kimberly who was only a six-month-old baby. This had a great impact in my life because my father was left to raise us on his own until he remarried and had help from his wife before he remarried it was very difficult going back and forth from my father's care to my mothers family care when he went to work since there were many other children around but I always ended up isolated since the only people I would ever talk to were my mother and father. My brother would get bullied in school and taunted by other children for not having a mother and "being a girl” for crying about it at school he once was hanged on the school fence by older students for this reason. I was always afraid of this situation happening to me so I would suppress the fact of my mother's death due to my fear and never really dealt with it until I grew older although I still haven’t overcome her dead because she was the women who created me and a great part of my life I no longer carry hurt or hate in my heart but instead pray for her soul and thank her for watching over me all these years.…
