I think that if the witches would have never approached Macbeth and told him about being king he would have never thought of being king. I think this because King Duncan is family to Macbeth and in order for Macbeth to have a chance at being king the king would have to die. Macbeth also thought very highly of King Duncan and he believed that King Duncan would never fail his kingdom. Even a short time after the witches approached Macbeth, Macbeth still was not very sure that he could be king and never really thought about. The only reason Macbeth ever considered being king was because Lady Macbeth challenged his manhood and belittled him into harming the king.
