The Manhattan Project: The Bombing Of Japan

Meanwhile back in Europe, Hitler had taken over Germany in 1933 and he had planned to take over all of europe. But, on December 11, 1941 Hitler declared war on the United States, one year before the start of the Manhattan Project. Ever since Hitler had gained control of Germany hundreds and thousands of people were being killed. The United States only solution was to build the bombs and stop him from hurting more innocent people. But, on May 8, 1945 Germany surrendered, the project still continued but the question was why? The reason was that General Leslie Grove ordered the scientist to continue building the bomb because Japan(Pearl Harbor) had become a new threat. The United States tried diplomacy but they rejected the peace treaty. So without trying to make peace again and trying to make sure that there would be no more American deaths, on August 6, 1945 Hiroshima was bombed killing around 80,000 people then 3 days later on August 9, 1945 Nagasaki was bombed killing around 40,000 people.The bombing of Japan had many negative affects on the country.The bomb killed lot’s of innocent people that should not have died, it also made Japan fear us a lot and made them surrender ending the war. Japan had tried to partner with the Soviet Union to go against the United States, but, the Soviet Union had already partnered with the United States. So the Soviet Union declined Japan 's offer and did not partner with them. Then when Japan was bombed and the Soviet Union had seen the power of the atomic bomb and wanted that power for themselves. Now what do people need for these wars? They need weapons and not just any weapons, but, weapons that are powerful enough to wipe out their enemies and to make them fear them. For example we used the atomic bombs to wipe out part of Japan, which caused Japan to fear the United States and surrender, ending World War II. People believe that nuclear weapons are a good way to fight and end wars, although they have many other negative affects most of them are things like radiation and thousands of deaths. The atomic bombs explosions killed around 120,000 people in Japan, the radiation and chemicals caused cancer, leukemia, lymphoma, brain damage, genetic and even more. Though still after seeing all that destruction and death, people decide to continue to use and test nuclear weapons. This is because nuclear weapons have power and that is what people and nations want power. So, as technology progresses and even more weapons are made, then nuclear weapons will also become more advanced, and people will start using them again and again causing the death of people who have nothing to do with their problems. Nuclear weapons should not be used though, because of all the destruction and terror that they cause. Also the fact that they not only affect the other country or nation you are attacking but they also affect neighboring nations. They cost so much to make and if
