In June of 1903 with a few ups and down, Ford pulled one last effort into the company on a make or break kind of deal effort. By creating Ford Motor Company with the help of John S. Gray as president: a Detroit banker. Once the first Model A was created it was sold in Detroit within a few months. However with any great start, Ford Motor Company beginnings were …show more content…
It was to make a motor car ready for the public and by doing that he needed to make a bundle for a quota he could sell. Unfortunately with automobiles being expensive at the time, Ford took his second plan and redesign the Model T, he had built year earlier; the reason he did so was because he felt it was a well sturdy car. The only drawback was it could only come in one color and there were no factory options. Even with trying to make production cheap but still at reasonable price cars, he still had to deal with hostility over his idea to create cars for the average worker. “Model T’s made before this date. No doubt these earlier cars were not numbered, and they were no doubt experimental, developmental models” (McCalley, 2012, p10). Ignoring others, he stuck to his plan and the Model T’s Ford had created previously before- had made their first appearance in 1908 at the purchase price of $825.00. About ten thousands were sold in the first year to create a new sale record. Even with its high price the Model T became very popular with the public because of its sturdy, reliable and easy to operate features. As the Model T’s became a big hit, Ford found it hard to keep us with demands of his cars. “We very shortly found that we could not do business on order. The factory could not be built large enough-even were it desirable-to make between March and August all the cars that were ordered during those months” (Crowther, Ford, 1922,P166). The only solution he had was to create a factory which would speed up production of his cars for customers demand, once installing a moving belt into his factory, it allow the worker to focus and create one car piece at a time, rather than taking responsibility for working on one whole
