The man’s name was cabeza de vaca he was conquistador from spain.

Cabeza was on his way to the new world and was in a shipwreck on the coast of texas in the gulf of mexico.There were 400 crew members but soon they died and all that was left is 4 survivors and one of survivors was Cabeza de Vaca. How did cabeza de vaca survive? Because of his wilderness skills,Cabeza use a hollowed-out horse-leg containers to drink water.As a slave Cabeza ate what was available, including berries, mollusks, rats, roots, lizards, snakes, and spiders. Cabeza learned 4 different languages Including Charuccos.
