Why would Augustus want to be in a relationship with Hazel, as his ex-girlfriend was in the same condition as Hazel, and passed away. Isn’t he afraid that the same thing might happen again? Or is it “true love”?

“True love”. Do these words truly mean something? Everyday many people are looking for its meaning, but some people, they just give up and believe that it is not true. Nothing lives forever, one day things we love will be gone, people we know will leave, and the horrendous thing to say is thereafter you will also be the one who leaves everything behind. But do those things really matter? For someone to be adored, to be remembered, and to be mourned when they are gone, is that what we call true love?

Will you give yourself, heart and soul, knowing this is the one person who can hurt you the most? Sometimes these questions run into your mind, leaving you the hardest decision to make in your life. There are times in our lives that we need to experience pain, a time when it is hard to forget and it hurts to remember. There is nothing wrong in holding on to the memories of the person we once loved. But we can’t let it restrain the rest of our lives. Yesterday must never keep us from today’s reality. We need to take a risk in order to learn or to know what is better and what is worse. If you never venture you will never perceive. Love is a leap of faith; you might have a atrocious experience in love, but that’s doesn’t mean you will get distressed again. At least we need to seize the leap, as it might be the only transportation you have to move forward. Ultimately, one day you will realise that taking that leap is the most important thing you ever did. In The Fault in Our Stars, Augustus never let his past dominate his present life. He takes chances in the situation, where everything seems to be impossible, and that’s the reason why he makes his life worth living. Despite this, he had desolate memories with his ex-girlfriend Caroline before, as Caroline passed away with brain cancer. Augustus mentioned that she had changed because of the cancer. She was discourteous, and doesn’t comprehend what love is any longer. Even though, it is not her fault to be in that situation, still it hard for Augustus to be in a relationship with a person who doesn’t know how to love. Some would say that those circumstances should make him not want to fall in love with a person with cancer, however that didn’t affect him. He was willing to take a chance with Hazel, even after Hazel told him that she is a grenade. “You don’t get to choose if you get hurt in this world, but you do have some say in who hurts you, and I like my choice”. Unfortunately, as a romance develops, one of the two people involved may now begin to view the other in a cautious manner because first impressions have given way to a more relaxed attitude which reveal “a warning” and that it “is not going to last long”(Twain). The comparison of flowing water, with dangerous undercurrents and hidden obstacles is applicable to a romance heading for the rocks. The concerned person may desire to overlook warning signs and concentrate solely on the qualities possessed by the other, but the damage is evident. The beauty that was once perceived with loving eyes is now seen with cold reality. Nevertheless, (transition into next paragraph) the time will come when it is necessary to end a romance or relationship and accept the brutal…

I have so many different thoughts and opinions about this book. I started out loving Has to Be Love, was super conflicted in the middle, but thought the ending was pretty spectacular. Like I said, conflicted. Our narrator, Clara, was rather frustrating to read about because she was so torn between what decisions to make about particular things, but she was a truthful character (to us at least). Reading Clara's justifications for wanting certain things made me more interested in the story and what would eventually happen…

Love brings out passion and the pain of old wounds. Relationships can grow and prosper on this emotion or can dwindle and die with this…

Part I Demonterius Dorsey What captured my attention the most in A.E Stalling’s First Love A Quiz , was how the actual poem was written in the format of a multiple choice quiz. The first line in each stanza starts off as a phrase, and the lines that follow are in A , B , C , format. The poem itself was short, yet very vivid and vague at the same time. Before reading the first line, I already had the impression from the title that the poem would be very similar to a quiz given by grade school teachers.…

Many people assume that their perspective of the world, specifically about love, is that it is straightforward and simple, and that everyone gets a fairytale ending. However, that is not always the case, and usually never is. As seen in pieces like Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, and “When Love Arrives” by Sarah Kay & Phil Kaye, it shows that love is unpredictable, complex, and involves varying levels of emotion. Brave New World and “When Love Arrives” both display perspectives of love being erratic.…

“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” This quote by T.S. Eliot introduces the idea of how much one will risk to get what is desired. Whether the desired goal is money, love, revenge, or freedom, many would put their own life, or someone else’s, on the line. Many people act purely on the idea of personal gain, not the possibility of something going wrong, or someone getting hurt. A person is willing to risk their own health, identity, and other people.…

Love: an aspect of life both complex and simple, both mysterious and apparent, both evasive and accessible. Great thinkers have mused over this concept, its different forms and effects, for centuries. Many ask the question of love's role in happiness: is it truly necessary? Both Plato and Aristotle argue the importance of love in attaining true contentment. In the comical play The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, the author conveys a theme of the nonexistence of true love. Throughout his play, he uses two couples to illustrate his satire on his view of love by showing that they “love” each other dearly, to the point that they are engaged. One thing as small as a name is able to break these relationships. Both of the men in this illustration are incognito under the identity of “Earnest”. Both of the women see their name as a deal breaker in the relationship, which the author used as support in conveying his theme.…

The song “Same Love” by Macklemore is a very powerful song that has a deeper meaning behind it. The Song “Same Love” had changed my opinions and thoughts about gay rights and homophobia(people who have phobia of gay) within the hip-hop community and the world. Also it want us youth of our society to think in a new direction. Humans in our society believe that the actions and activities that people are involved are either classified as gay or straight. “Same Love” starts off with the lyrics, “When I was in the third grade, I thought that i was gay, because i could draw, my uncle was, and i kept my room straight”.…
