With all of that being said you may ask why did America chose to fight in this war. The ideal behind the fighting was creating a secure environment in Afghanistan. If the Taliban have full control over a whole country, they would have the capabilities of launching a second attack after 9/11. America's goal was releasing Taliban's control and forming a government that could stay on top of the coalition forces. Anders Fogh Rasmussen stated “Thanks to the remarkable effort of our forces, we have achieved what we set out to do. We Americans suffered for long time before we gained liberty, and it all started with Britain’s unfair control over colonists. The American Revolution, the battles of destruction and the fight for independence, the colonists were done with the abuse and neglect from Britain, therefore colonists united to stand against Britain’s selfish control. But, were the colonists right in breaking up with Britain and fighting for their right as an independent country? Well yes, Americans were justified in waging war with Britain because of violation of English rights, lack of representation in parliament, and zero approval of colonists on Acts and Taxes. When the war first started the Americans were at a severe disadvantage, their military and navy were under armed and undermanned due to the earlier policies of the executive branch. Even the militia's were poorly trained. The Americans strategy was lacking, they divided their forces into three groups, each one setting out from different areas, Detroit, Niagara, and Lake Champlain. Each was beaten back by the enemies. The better strategy would of been to attack the English and Canadians at their heart, Montreal.…

On the 1st of September, 1939, Nazi Germany invaded Poland, and effectively began the second world war. The groups fighting against one another were the Axis powers–Germany, Italy, and Japan– and the Allies– France, the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, and later the United States. The United States stayed out of the war for some time, many feared that joining the war would weaken the already unstable economy recovering from the Great Depression. However, on December 7th, 1941, the Japanese, led by Emperor Hirohito, bombed an American Fleet in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, which caused America to join the war immediately. After Pearl Harbor was bombed, Americans were furious with the Japanese and more than willing to join the effort against Germany, led by Adolf Hitler, and the axis powers.…

America went to war with Spain largely for the poor treatment of the Cubans by Spain, but the ongoing growth of industry had many Americans more interested in taking over colonies to expand across the seas. Harsh treatment of Cubans by the Spanish, the role of the press in creating an outcry for war against Spain, and an explosion on the USS Maine created blame on the Spanish which leads to "war fever". (Dolan, 2001) This short war, only lasted about ten weeks but showed the strength of America.…

Leading up to the United States’ involvement in World War II, Japan exhibited aggressive imperialistic quests throughout Asia. After an attack on an American military base in Hawaii, the United States would enter combat in an attempt to curb the Japanese aggression. World War II consisted of battles mainly against Germany in Europe and Japan in the Pacific, and the Allies heavily relied on the United States to control the Pacific. American involvement in the Pacific eventually disabled Japanese aggression, as President Harry Truman called for the destruction of major Japanese cities via the atomic bomb. Despite an early advantage in the war, Japan was forced to surrender to the Americans, and as a result, the Allies proved victorious in the…

Throughout time, America has played significant roles in other nations. It has influenced many countries, both positively and negatively. Being one of the most powerful countries, America managed to politically and economically control many areas. Their actions were motivated by different reasons, being the biggest ones a false idea of superiority and a strong prejudice towards other races. But imperialized and oppressed territories couldn’t do anything to stop them, for they lacked, at that time, the strength to get independence.…

The Loss of Kunduz Prompts a Difficult Choice This month the Taliban attacked and recaptured a majority of Kunduz, one of the most populated and largest cities in Afghanistan. In addition to reclaiming the city, many prisoners were freed from the prisons. This is a drastic turn of events from fourteen years ago at the start of the war in Afghanistan. On November 26, 2001 the United States, with the support of the Afghan forces, captured Kunduz from the Taliban. At the time, this was a major victory for the U.S. because Kunduz served as the regimes stronghold.…

Although there are many more freedoms, three main freedoms and rights that Americans gain from the military service are the freedom of speech and religion, the right to vote and to think as one chooses, and the freedom to chose whether or not one goes to college and pursues a career. The first and one of the most important freedoms that Americans gain from the men and women who serve in the military is the freedom of speech and religion.…

“An Afghan American Speaks,” is an article found on Salon.com and was written by author Tamim Ansary. The catalyst behind the article were the 9-11 attacks, and to respond to those who thought “bombing Afghanistan back to the stone age” for revenge was a good idea. The argument that is made says bombing Afghanistan would not solve anything, and it would only put innocent lives, who had nothing to do with 9-11, in danger. It’s made clear that the “new bombs would only stir up the rubble of earlier bombs” and the Taliban would only slip away and hide. Because of this, more innocent lives would be taken rather than those of the Taliban which makes us wonder why the people of Afghanistan won’t just rise up and overthrow them.…
