Whether or not cursive should be taught in schools has been debated for some time. One side believes that it should not be taught because, in the future, there will be few instances of cursive due to use of electronics and the popularity of regular printing. The other side believes it should be taught because it is mentally beneficial. Cursive should be taught in schools because it continues to still be in use today, helps with fine motor-skill development, and positively affects brain health.
The first major component of why cursive should be taught to children is because it is still in use today. Some people prefer cursive over printing, and some logos, brands, or store names appear in cursive. If students are not taught cursive in school, then they would have a difficult time understanding all types of handwriting, logos, brands, stores, etc. For example, people, mostly family and loves ones, send each other hand-written cards or letters for various reasons. Some individuals will write in cursive in thus said cards or letters. If the reciever has no teaching of cursive, they will have difficulty reading the card or letter.
