In my study I will look at this issue of why criminals reoffend.
I will start with some statistics on reoffending then look at the theories, and then at the public and their victim of serious criminals. In the second half of this essay, I will be arguing as to whether the present system works well in the interests of society.
This research will include; the background of a criminal and the circumstances in which a criminal commits a crime. The background could include; if someone from the family of the criminal committed crime before, the childhood of a criminal and the circumstances in which a criminal committed a crime. This article includes that, Around 280,000 offences were committed by criminals with 11 or more previous offences, while more than 50,000 of these were committed by nearly 11,000 criminals who had previously been jailed at least 11 times. This raises the question of reoffending and triggered that, is the criminal justice system is working well or not? People are committing crimes within the few months after serving for the similar crime before, for me this is not only shocking but this not only rises questions for the criminal justice system but also for the public that is the public or the victims of these crimes safe enough?
