Anyone can have a successful career without the need for a college degree (Davies 1). Interest rates can be confusing and being unaware of the hidden costs of them can be dreadful. The factor that an interest rate’s cost relies on the most is “primarily on your credit score” (Calonia 1). If a person who has a poor credit score wants to take out a student loan, then they will have to pay extended amounts as a result of their credit score. The debt college students fall into because of college costs and student loans takes a long time to pay back for most people. When a person goes straight into the job field as soon as they complete high school, no time is wasted and no money is lost.. This is also possible because there are countless jobs hiring right out of high school. Many different types of jobs are hiring students that have just graduated from high school and are ready to go into the workforce at an early age. This helps many of them tremendously because instead of starting in debt, they will be starting with great pay and many benefits. There are so many people that drop out of college because of all of the factors that come into attending college. Melanie Hanson’s “College Dropout Rates” indicates “up to 32.9% of undergraduates do not complete their degree program” (Hanson 1). There are many college students that decide to drop out before receiving their degree, usually because college can be overwhelming and can make them have no choice but to drop out. For some families, they try to force their children to attend college because they have done it themselves or believe that is the best option for them without knowing the truth about college. Many people do not want to go to college because they are just “going to college to please [their] family” (Davies 2).
