Think about college-level writing and what it means to you. Most individuals might have an answer for this, but for me a person that overthinks about things way too hard that question drew a blank every time I was asked or thought about what College-level writing actually meant. It seemed so fuzzy and abstract that the thought of what college-level writing meant to me made me feel a little uncomfortable as if it had been thrown on me, demanding an intellectual effort that I did not have at the moment. It required me to enter a realm of smart, complex ideas that others had written about and that I now had to navigate, understand, and interact with just as intelligently. To solve critical thinking problems, math teachers model the way they think when solving a problem. The students take on a set of questions to ask that will help them think their way to a answer. But the difference in the two is while in math students only use critical thinking to help lead them to a solution it only serves one purpose. While critical thinking in College-level writing you are assigned prompts that help teach the critical thinking skills needed to communicate in courses and in the workplace.
