Why College Is Important To Me

I want you to imagine something. You’re a 21 year old college senior majoring in communication studies with no direction to go. Throughout my entire life, all decisions were made for me. My hairstyle, the school I chose to go to, the things I talk about, and what church I visit. College was a complete slap in the face for me and I’m sure for others like myself. While I am not an introvert, you could say I live like one. Additionally, I feel like I wasn’t quite ready to adult the way I imagined I would when I was younger. Life got real when I moved to Baton Rouge. Coming from a small city, it took me a while to learn to recognize who to trust and who not to. What to try and what not too. We seem to forget that we don’t have to actually wait until the New Year to start making things happen, at least that’s what I had to remind myself. The last year of my life has been rough. I managed to lose two grandparents, quit a job that was treating me miserably, max out two credit cards, and completely lose my mind. I don’t have just a few things I want to work on, I have a slew of things.
