Everyone always says that college is different than high school. They say you become more independent, it is harder, scarier, and so on. There are many things said and projected about college. One that is true about college being different than high school is the grading process. In high school teachers can be tough graders, but usually have a basic grading process.…
Almost everyone I talk to is stressed about something in college. The homework we have to do in college its overwhelming. When I was in high school I was overwhelmed at times too, but no this much. The best comparison of high school to college I can give is this. High school is like a gentle breeze on a mid summers day while college is a massive hurricane that never stops.…
Transitioning from high school to college is difficult. There is a huge increase in amount of homework. Quizzes, tests and midterms are harder compare to high school. Writing at the college level is difficult for me because English is my second language. Figuring out what I was planning to major in was the hardest part because I entered college not knowing what I was interested in doing.…

Other people think that college is a great opportunity for people to get a higher education and in the long run make more money with their job. Going to college is a big issue in today’s world. With that being said, let’s jump right into the mix of things and talk about one of the main reasons why I believe going to college serves as an advantageous opportunity. College helps us prepare for any envisioned careers we seek. We need the preparation to be success in any line of work. In an article I found “Live and Learn: Why We Have College” by author Louis Menand. He gives his audience three different theories to choose from on why we “have college”.…
College is definitely not a bad thing, but what would happen if every high school student who graduated attended college? Is college the right choice for everyone? I personally do not believe that college is the right choice for everyone because, all high schoolers have a different aptitude for learning, with every graduate attending it might cause overcrowding, and lastly there are many different options after high school that graduates can choose from that works for them. Every single person is different, so that means everyone's brains work differently.…
Personally, college is a different environment compared to what high school students are used to. College teaches students to be more independent relying on ourselves to take care of our studies and learning process. Take High School for example. High School teachers will constantly remind students of deadlines for assignments while professors could care less if students missed the deadline. Because college students are considered more “mature”, students are required to manage their own time checking due dates for each class themselves.…
High School and college experiences are very different with pros and cons. The high school seniors that are graduating and going to college have a new experience ahead. They are going to face new professors, block schedules, and other changes. The college experience is superior to the high school experience based on class options, the living situations and, professor teaching styles.…
College vs. High School High school and college may appear to be closely related, but in reality they are two distinct worlds. It is crucial to recognize that the two, however slightly similar, mostly contrast in order to successfully complete the transition between the two. In transitioning from high school to college, a student would need to know what to expect, specifically how some behaviors that would have been considered taboo in the former are often acceptable in the latter. Colleges tend to offer a more substantial amount of freedom. High school on the other hand tends to focus on discipline and structural matters.…
A big part of college is maturing and getting your priorities straight, and that’s one big thing I’ve learned so far. College really makes you grow up fast because you are on your own and your parents aren’t there to be on top of you. In High School, especially cathiloc school, the teachers…
In high school follow a school directed schedule and proceed from one class to another while in college you manage your own time and schedule. In high school a bell tells you when classes start and end and in college you get to class without any formal reminder. In college you are required to have all homework or any missed tests or assignments done with no reminder from teachers like you get in high school. You are also required to get help if needed in college because teachers do not approach you with the request if they think you need help. Everything you do in college is all up to you and you have to manage everything.…
I often think about the similarities and differences from my high school experiences and my brief experience in college. I have noticed that both high school and college allows students the freedom and opportunity to choose classes pertaining to our future career. College; however, differs in that it offers a wider variety of courses for a more diverse education and unlike high school, where you are learning from a book and notes, college educates us on real world experiences. A great example would be the global cultural events where you learn about other cultures, societies, and are able to see the world from a new, fresh…
The world, from its most basic structure hundreds of years ago, to its most sophisticated shape nowadays, has been the experiment of profuse reactions and transformations, basically due to technological progression and educational evolution. In Lebanon, schools and colleges used to be everything but buildings and establishments: in small villages, children grouped together under shading trees and listened to the wisest man in the village lecturing about life concerns, whom they entitled “professor”, far before this term was attributed to describe an educated person filling the job. With European colonization and technological advancement brought to Lebanon during the first and second world wars, the educational system was drastically enhanced to satisfy the worldwide standards of education. High schools and colleges before and now individually have resemblances and variances; however, although schools might share other similarities with colleges on fundamental and disciplinary levels, both institutions show evident differences in freedom, responsibility and timing effects on the students.…
