P. Forni’s article on Why Civility is Necessary for Survival, highlights that civility is dwindling within our society. Consequently, we can experience this decline of civility firsthand during every day transactions from ordering coffee, driving or running errands. Individuals are less likely than ever to use courteous language such as “please” and “thank you.” Etiquette often seems to evade members of our society and is instead exchanged for rudeness. Therefore, with this notion in mind, calls for civil discourse aren’t necessary a plea for niceties.
