Why Cheating Is Wrong

The definition of cheating has remained uncleared. But as it is considered as wrong, no matter what, the teachers were wrong because cheating was something that they started with a good intention, but not in a right way. Teachers are often tempted to cheat as they think that it is an easier way to get bright results. There is not a single situation where I could describe it to be totally fair or acceptable. According to me the teachers at park middle school were at fault. But what I felt is should the teachers really cheat? No, Their role was to impart knowledge to the students studying in the school. Yes, they cheated and changed the answers, leaving no evidence behind which was not a right thing to do. Except cheating there are many other options of helping the students get rid of the tests, one of the way was having a meeting held with the Superintendent hall and discussing the problem. If everyone was against the education system, then they would …show more content…

Another reason why my decision wasn’t the smartest is that I didn’t gain anything from cheating. I thought that if I cheated on this test I would get an A+, but this wasn’t the case. Since I got caught cheating, I ended up with a zero on the test. I don’t know why it occurred to me that I would be able to get away with holding the study guide under my desk, but in the end I did the crime, so I had to face the consequences. Now that I am in high school, I know that…

True citizens must go beyond the "right" expectations of a society by sometimes doing the wrong expectations in order to have the right outcome. Cheating is a wrong expectation in a society, and even though a society thinks cheating is never the right answer, there are a few cases where it may be a good thing. From the article, "What do school teachers and sip wrestlers have in common", by author Steven J. Dubner, he explains how cheating is a part of every citizens life, and how it may not always be a bad thing in a society because it is naturally a part of many people's lives and there may be some cases where cheating can be used as a slight benefit for some people. "It is the third grader who, worried about not making it to the fourth grade, copies test answers from the kid sitting next to him" (Steven J. Dubner 1). This example of how cheating may be a benefit might not be clear for some people because most people probably view cheating on a test, (whether it's just to pass a grade or not), as a meaningless act because the person who is cheating is not using the mind of there own.…

Truthfully, I’d choose to avoid cheating regardless of any urges to do otherwise. By deciding to stay away from such action, I’d preserve my academic honesty and integrity, an important component of a scholar. Doing otherwise would result in a conference if caught, which would be very shameful, and the potential expulsion from such a prestigious program which I value very much. After everything my parents do for me, cheating would be letting them down and that’s something I couldn’t live with. Tenth and eleventh grade PACE, having a more intense curriculum, will call for greater organization and time management in order to be successful.…

Tommy Raskin in “Cheating Students” (2013) argues that cheating in schools is an epidemic which keeps teachers from accurately assessing a student’s learning. Raskin supports this argument by stating that schools are shaped to be an equivalent of a job, reminding readers about teachers changing test scores to meet district, state, and federal standards, the hostile environment that is rampant in high schools, the benefits that cheaters reap, and finally, how cheating threatens our society (24-26). The writer’s purpose is to enlighten his audience about the cheating problem in American schools in order to change the educational system and testing procedures (26). Raskin adopts a direct, persuasive tone towards students, teachers, and school…

Over the past few decades the american dream now requires whoever wants to participate to achieve academic excellence within the school system. This study focuses on a way that students are using to help maintain high grades. By ditching the moral integrity students cheat to help achieve higher grades. The toxic concept of having to do well, has coerced these kids into taking a step down the path into academic dishonesty. The problem is a small step away from dishonesty will eventually lead to bigger problems, but in the minds of the cheaters, they have rationalized that it’s fine, as long as they focus upon the things that they will be doing later in life.…

Cheating seems like a task that students would be afraid and ashamed of, especially at the college level. Getting caught and punished and being too scared of the consequences along with the fact that it is immoral are all reasons I do not even consider cheating. The fact that all it takes is a few copied sentences in a paper to ruin your gpa and future is insane, but that is how it should be. It is not only the slackers cheating anymore, but rather highly intelligent, yet lowly motivated students. With modern technology along side to help, cheating rates are escalating to an all new high.…

Cheating and plagiarizing hurts the student more than it helps, but with a lack of interest and desire to do well, the student may disregard that possibility. Some students may do even better in an environment where cheating is less common because of an honor code, as represented in Alyssa Vangelli’s article. It makes sense that she has criticisms about a new honor code because not everyone will agree, but once it gets revised and makes students want to prevent cheating, students will end up doing better in school. A less excessive amount of writing a code and consequences and more focused on increasing the moral values of maintaining integrity will aid the success rate of students. Additionally, an increased moral value against cheating and a belief in themselves, students will be more encouraged to reduce the amount of cheating that occurs in school.…

In the article “Why I Think Students Should Cheat,” Cevin Soling (2015) argues that even though cheating is wrong, there are many advantages. Students are taught that cheating is wrong because it impacts self-esteem through unearned rewards and stimulates bad habits. However, these points are not valid considering the environment students are put in, where failure is not an option. It can be overwhelming and draw students to take the easy way out, cheating. According to the author, cheating should be done by all students in compulsory schools because it can boost self-esteem, confidence and instill pride.…

I understand that cheating is a very important issue, especially in today’s society where technology and new ways to cheat seem to arise almost every day. Students have the mentality that they need the quickest and best way to finish college with a degree so they can move on with their lives and don’t take the time to sit down and actually learn the material. But, if a student is caught cheating in the Disability Testing center the blame should be on the student, not the testing center itself. There are cameras installed in each cubicle and the center is under constant surveillance so students must go great lengths in order to cheat. Also, many “normal” exams are given in classrooms where there is little to no surveillance of students.…
