Cheating is one of the most critical and widespread problems that exist in the current system of education. Students are cheating in all educational establishments, whether it is a school, college, or university. They do it in the private and state schools, poor and rich, primary and high ones. There is an array of reasons for this type of their misbehavior. Initially, they are afraid to fail a subject or have poor grades. They do it on their own claiming that everyone does it, or they have no time for studying. They cheat in cooperation with their parents because the tasks are too difficult to complete. First and foremost, cheating is unfair to other students. By plagiarizing or asking for someone’s work and answers to test or assignment, a student is disrespecting another student who has been working hard to complete it. Moreover, a cheater is violating an ethical code of student (MacNiven 58). It is a well-known fact that most of the children want to get positive grades in school and be the best in their academic competitions. However, sometimes there are instances when a dishonest student gets better grades than the one who has actually done this assignment. Furthermore, those students who do not want to play by rules, cause harm to others who adhere to the rules of a fair academic process (MacNiven 59). Sometimes, students get expelled from schools or lose their scholarships because of the cheaters. This misbehavior is closely connected with the concepts of stealing or lying. There is an array of instances when students’ lives were destroyed because of academic dishonesty (Bakken 192). Sometimes teachers are not able to detect academic cheating in schools. Thus, students develop this risky habit and continue to behave in the same way in colleges and universities. However, the higher educational establishments have an array of means to detect academic dishonesty and prevent it. If a person is caught on cheating in school, there is a high possibility that he/she can get a warning or be punished with the help of grades.
