Why Celebrities Should Be Boycotted

Celebrities nowadays are seen all over the television, advertising everything from soap to a brand new car. Sue Jozui in her passage states that celebrity-endorsed products should be boycotted and have certain laws put on such advertisements. The article supports her stance by first listing the things that celebrities endorse, as well as the way they promoted. She continues by supporting her reason behind why celebrities should not promote a company’s product. The author’s purpose is to strongly support her argument as to why celebrity endorsement should have laws and be boycotted in order to convince her audience that celebrity-endorsed products should be boycotted. The author creates an outraged tone for people who fall for this kind of advertising. The author argues that using celebrities to endorse product should be boycotted. Though boycotting the use of celebrity endorsed products could be supported, it should not be, as this is how companies sell their product more efficiently. …show more content…
For example, some people believe that celebrity endorsement makes them feel insulted and stupid. This shows that people believe that celebrity endorsement is an insult to their intelligence. However, this only represents few, as many believe it only insults you if you are not well informed about the product. Another example is that many people believe that celebrity endorsed products mislead the audience.This shows that many people don’t grasp the point of a celebrity endorsed product. Though misleading, the point of the endorsement is to sell the product to the people, not make it make sense. Though these reasons make a strong argument, it feels like there are more pros than cons in not boycotting celebrity endorsed
